Both models had one volume and one tone controls and used the same knurled knobs found on the Telecaster & Precision Bass. These models were offered only in Desert Sand (sort of an opaque Blond color that was already being applied to lap steels). GIBSON SG STANDARD Electric Guitar. Built in USA, 1969. In 1961 the Les Paul model was given a completely new body style that was thinner & had two sharp cutaway horns that made the upper frets more accessible & was advertised as having the "fastest neck in the world" due to its slender neck profile & virtually non-existent heel. Combined with this radical new design on a solid body guitar, it was to be Gibson's solution to declining LP sales and to compete directly against the up and coming Fender Stratocaster. The Gibson "SG", which was short for "solid guitar" was born. All original with minor finish checking and a few chips and dings, but no breaks or non original parts. Original hard case. P/C

GIBSON SG STANDARD Electric Guitar. Built in USA, 1970. In 1970, Gibson added a neck volute and beefier neck/body joint to help overcome the 60's SG's tendency to crack at those locations if you looked at them funny. They also introduced the "Made in USA" mark on the back of the headstock. A few years later, Gibson, (IMHO), degraded the SG Standard, with a new bridge design, smaller rectangular fret markers and a few other less than stellar details. This was the last year of the classic SG Standard design. All original with minor finish checking and a few chips and dings, but no breaks or non original parts. Original hard case. N/A
